Why cant I use ratchet straps for tie downs????

What about a set of 4 of these tension springs for use with chain and turnbuckle tie downs. $12.00 each at Home Depot and other stores. 350 pound rating is a bit weak but you should be able to find a higher rating. These would be a cheap way to preload the TC tie downs and have a cushion before bottoming out. Sort of a poor mans fastgun.
