After four Cummins Rams and a Hemi powered 2500HD, I'm finally back in a truck that I'm not anxious to trade for any reason. Chrapsler has a good thing going with the Cummins engine. The hydroformed chassis and AAM rear end was a step in the wrong direction in my humble opinion. If I were going to buy a new diesel pickup today, it would likely be a GM Duramax/Allison. For gas, I'll stick with Ford.
GMs have the same AAM axles chief. And idk the frame differences but I fail to see what's wrong with any of the current crop of boxed frames.
I know they do. One reason I'm driving a Ford. Hydroformed chassis seem to amplify vibrations like a tuning fork. The difference was very noticeable when Chrysler went from the C channel to hydroformed in 2003. I had to have the AAM rear axles rebuilt in my 2003 and 2005 with less than 100k miles on them.
Had to have the diffs rebuilt in 3 of or 2006 F350s with less than 50,000 miles. That don't prove anything.
