Here's my story. Put 6 new tires on, took it to alignment shop. Went for a test drive & @ about 40 it went into the dreaded death wobble. This guy with more body piercings than tatoos said "need to swap sides with the fronts" I just looked out the window and rolled my eyes. After swapping them, rechecking alignment we went for another ride. @ 40 he let go of the wheel and it was solid & strait. Wobble never came back. That was 30K miles ago. He said "something about the construction of some tires" he had ran into this before several times. I was speachless.
The thug was exactly right. Radial tires can have a slight variance in stiffness or belts not perfectly centered that our trucks will pick up and start a harmonic bounce at 45~50mph. Mine does it about 30% of the time at 47mph. Most days smooth as glass. Other's I'd swear I lost a balance weight. It changes with tire rotations every 6k miles.
