All very interesting, thanks everyone for your responses. In my case it comes on at just around 40 and seems to disappear after about 47. Alignment was also done at the same most respected shop.
Once before I had a shake like this and I went with the mechanic for a drive. He had a vibration monitor that magnetically attached to various points around the vehicle and I wonder whether anyone has any experience with that. I was thinking of creating one with an antenna whip and a magnetic attachment to see if it proved anything.
The part about 50+ MPH for wheel balance problems was interesting too. While the Vision 81's with the Michelins do weight considerably more than the 265/16 originals, I am not sure whether that should make a difference or not.
Would shakes that appear then disappear be from other causes than wheels? Would a wheel balance problem not just get worse the faster one drives?
Would a disappearing shake come back again at double speed?
And would a shake in an empty truck be more or less noticeable when it is heavily loaded with camper and gear?
thanks again. Mike
