Why do people have such large trailers?

I have an aunt and uncle that bought a large 5er when my cousins were young and they traveled all the time. The kids grew up and moved away but they kept that big 5er to haul their equipment to wood carving workshops. They were also comfortable with operating and driving that 5er and it has been paid off for years...no need for them to downsize or replace it in their minds, I guess.
