I am sitting at Ft whaley campground just outside of Ocean City Md right now. Its Me ,My wife and 2 boys ( seven and nine) we are in a 30 ft , bunkhouse with a slide . Next to us is a family 2 adults , and 4 late teenagers in a 18 ft mallard with no slide . Its all in what you want and can afford . Afford being the biggest issue .
I give people who still tent camp a lot of credit. Where we were staying (CG is next to the bay), the wind was whipping around constantly, and I saw several people struggling to set up and take down because of that. And one day a huge storm came through, and the whole campground was under about 6" of water. One group had dug a trench around the tent in an attempt to keep the water out of the tent (we did this in scouting as a kid), but when you are in a low floodplain, the water comes from every direction so it was a futile attempt.
