Why do people have such large trailers?

the simple answer is BECAUSE THEY CAN or WANT. I have a small 19' trailer that will sleep 5. You certainly aren't going to dance in there. My house is way more comfortable than my trailer so when i take it out i don't want to sit in the trailer. I see these monsters on the road 35-40' with sometimes with 2 people but never more 5. In fact I spent a week on the rd recently and didn't see more than 4 people per trailer. This post isn't directed at people who live on the road with their trailer.

  • We went from a 19' TT to a 33' TT then to a 36' Class A and now we are at a 38' Class A and it is two of us. Sometimes four but mostly the two of us. It is all a personal choice. Like you, we like to spend time outdoors when camping but when we come in or if its rainy/nasty weather, we want comfort when we come inside. Our coach is our mobile cabin or home away from home and that's just how we enjoy our camping experience. You will get many answers as everyone has different reasons for what setup they have. Some is affordability, some is personal choice...either way for me, to each his own!

Several years ago, we were at a campground with our 36' Class A and my son and I walked down to a lake. While walking, we saw many TT's, Hybrids, Pups, Tents, Coaches, etc. Then we saw an older TT with a window AC sticking out and there at the picnic table was a young couple with a baby and they were just enjoying their time together. I told my son, that's what I like about camping! Anybody from pretty much any walk of life can experience this! Great stuff!

    Happy Camping!
  • I guess the question back at you is what difference could the size trailer I buy, use and tow make to you. As the saying goes there is a seat for every a$$
  • I think it's all a matter of what works for the individual.
Our TT is smaller than many (most?) but works perfectly for us but that's not to say others don't need of just want something much bigger. There's no wrong answer.
