Why is my Dometic Frig freezing everything

The thermostat is the slide on the fin inside the frig . No matter where I position the slide it will freeze. From 27 to 31 degrees

That model goes into limp mode upon failure of thermistor.
Limp Mode on that model means 'continuous cooling' on the heat source selected.
It will run continuously until sensing restored....thermistor placed back in clip on fin (if it has fallen out/hanging down) OR replaced.
  • I had this problem this summer no matter where the slider was. After I pulled stuff out of the fridge to check the thermister as advised, I found that the sensor fell out of the plastic slider clip and was hanging in the bottom of the fridge. Once I clipped it back on it seemed to work.

One other thing to make sure you check.
  • Changing position of thermistor (UP/DOWN) applies to the fridges that use 'Auto Temp Control' ....no temp setting adjustments on upper panel,,,,and have a Decal on fridge sidewall showing Cooler/Warmer settings

Otherwise ...leave thermistor in OEM position which is where the thermostat is calibrated for the different temp settings

Items freezing in Food compartment......thermistor is BAD,\ replace it

Posting Model when asking for help is advisable
  • What is the model number? Usually there is a switch on the outside of the frig which along with positioning the thermistor on the inside fins controls the temperature.
