Not having kids I never thought about the fact of being able to wathc kids from inside the RV to keep an eye on them.
I understand why the slides are on the street side since as mentioned they would open up into the site. I'm thinking just put the kitchen on the slide. Perhaps not the sink but could do the fridge, oven and cabinets.
I recall growing up camping and if it's cold or light rain playing games at the dinette and watching the fire through the windows.
Right now my list of RV's is the Jayco Jay Flight Swift 198RD (would like a slide though). This is the exact floor plan of the Jayco 5th wheel 211SL that I had in the mid 90's but just in a travel trailer.
Jaycos White Hawk 24RBS but the windows on the dinette are below the height of the dinette and only a portion slides.
Artic Fox 25P but this is a little more on the heavy side then I would like and also much more expensive.
We may just do the 198RD. While no slide and small the wife has never camped so spending $15k on something and seeing if she likes it is better then 25-30k and finding out she doesn't.
Only concern is with the 198 is we also have a Golden Retriever. Two adults and 1 large dog will test the size for sure.
