If you are going to support with blocking it needs to be done at the ends plus center on each side, not just on the ends.
I've seen a couple of small light weight models where the frame gets shallower near the ends but I don't think I've seen a 28 ft or larger where they didn't use a fixed dimension frame (ie: they don't design it to be weaker near the ends).
