Why posters don't stay on Rv net

I can fully understand why posters don't stay on RV.net.
In another post, (which is now closed) the OP who never posted here tried to do a favor to anyone who was purchasing a truck cap with a set of luggage rack tracks and gave them a warning about an item to watch out for.
He ended up getting sarcasim from half the responders.

The guy was trying to do a favor, and that is the thanks he got!.

I for one knew exactly what he was talking about, and thought his post was a valid one

I didn't post in that thread but did read it...nobody told him the post was invalid and I think it passing strange that he took such offense that he indignantly removed the opener.

In defense of those who did post, and from my perspective:

The mild protests there were precipitated by the O.P.'s strangely belligerent response to an ordinary request for a picture of what he was talking about. Most folks would just say "I don't have any" or "I don't know how"...that person posted something like "I have no intention of posting pictures"- say what ?

I thought the Member's "Thanks for posting!" post to be a mildly ironic response to that- what- "refusal"????
  • I did a search for luggage rack but did not find the post you are referring to. Lots of different personalities on here - I just block the ones I don't like or never have something valuable to contribute - or just ignore them. The anonymous aspect of posting to message boards like this one brings out the worst in some people. They would never let me be a moderator....
  • i dunno, this is the most moderated, mild place I visit. If RV.net is too rough, the interwebs may not be your thing...

Is this site any different than any other open online forum?

  • Don't worry too much. There's still plenty of posters that we would like to see leave-but they stick around forever! RV.NET is not for sissies!
  • This also happens to established posters. Myself being one of them. Still, I hang around for abuse LOL! I enjoy reading the informational posts more than I like posting, so it's just as well.
