You guys are making stuff up I didn't say nor imply. I wouldn't buy a tow vehicle, nor spend three months researching one, to go over manufacturers suggestions. I'm driving 13 hours to have my vehicle setup by the guy that knows more than anyone else on the subject. Read his many articles in RV Lifestyle if your not familiar with Andy. He's very well thought of by all accounts that I've seen.

You're assuming he's the ultimate authority on the subject. I can write articles too make people think I really know what I'm talking about. It's the Internet. Everyone claims to be an authority. I guarantee there is more than one trailer/RV shop within 100 miles of where you live that can setup your Navigator properly, as well or better than CanAm. Have you researched that angle? I'd hate to see you drive all that way for something that can be done locally just as well.
Here's one reason why I have an issue with CanAM. A few years ago he had a video out there (which has mysteriously disappeared) comparing a the handling of a sports car to a Chevy Trailblazer and using that as a reason the claim the Trailblazer was a bad tow vehicle. Horse hockey! Of COURSE the sports car can out handle the Trailblazer. Moreover I towed a 17' hybrid for 7 years with a Trailblazer. It handled that trailer wonderfully, through mountains and everywhere else we took it. But it's this kind of stuff that makes me question his knowledge. If he's so good, why does he have to put propaganda like that out there?

Why is there this disdaine for the Navigator?
The kids are much safer in the Navigator while traveling. Something designed to carry passengers.
OP wants to spend his families HARD EARNED money on whatever they please it's up to them. No different than someone buying a loaded 4x4 Cummins crew cab and a loaded fifth wheel...it all about what someone wants.
And, the Ecoboost seems to do a fine job with a heavy load going downhill in an f150...it would be no different in the Navigator.

Thanks

No disdain. No one is questioning the comfort, versatility, and power. We are questioning pushing limits and possibly going over the limits. Having pushed those limits myself I speak from experience. It can be a very different experience between the Navigator and an F150, the two may have the same drive train, but are different animals. All because of payload, suspension differences, and axle limits. The OP wanted opinions and he got them. Moreover he's been an excellent and gracious poster in hearing out different thoughts on the subject.
