OP, the engine has no problem with that weight. FAWR and RAWR are most important and really all that matter with respect to safety (this includes tires as well). It's up to you if you are willing to exceed an artificially low GVWR on the truck.
There are pages of internet folklore about people getting in trouble for exceeding the 10,000# GVWR of a 3/4 ton truck but not a single credible example has EVER been posted. I'd refer people to the Moss-Magnuson act that gets thrown out anytime an aftermarket mod and warranty get mentioned in the same sentence. If there were even a shred of truth to the towing over GVWR myth wouldn't there be some case law quoted on every message board?????
