Your best solution to keep water away from your slide bottom is probably to seal it with something and then you won't have any worries about water and the worrisome trim piece.
I'd suggest to remove the failing darco tape and apply paint or varnish to the OSB. A satin spar varnish wouldn't change the look of the original and should seal up everything well. Since the bottom is out of the sun, anything you coat the bottom with, should last for a long time.
