I know my 13 Explorer has the ability to shift manually through all 6 gears. The AWD unit in the Edge is junk. the one in the Explorer has selectable options and can be drained and filled. I wouldn't hesitate to tow a lighter TT with mine, provided I put a tune in it to take care of the torque management.
