Okan,
In terms of buying an American Made winch now-o-days, figgettaboutit. Even Warn winches are now made in China. My 15K is about 5 yrs. old and I believe it's one of the last ones made here. I have a buddie on this list, Alex, and he bought a 17.5K winch and built his own carrier with another welder friend. I haven't seen it work yet, but it looks impressive. "The winch that ate my F-250." The thing is; the bigger the winch; the higher the capacity; the higher the gear reduction; the slower the line speed. You'll have plenty of time to feel if it's too much for the frame. I don't see any reason not to get the 17.5 with your sturdy looking winch bumper. Make sure the holes line up. I made the mistake once of ordering the Commercial carrier and fairlead. Costly mistake. Those parts ONLY work with the commercial winch which has a wider and thinner drum and fairlead with different holes and spacing.
Mine is the generation one Warn carrier.
The rear wheels are Mickey Thompson 16x12" with" a 4.5" B.S. and rated at 3600 pounds, which beats most wheels. The tires are 375x55R16 (33x15.50), with a 3750 pound, E load rating; again Mickey Thompson, and have worn exceptionally well but are not produced any more. Today i was cruising the net to find replacements and it looks like i have narrowed down my selection to:
Mickey Thompson #1916, MT315x75R16E (35x12.5) ATZ P-3's. The diameter is 34.5". They are wider than most 12.5's with a 12 inch section width and the tread 11.??". The load rating is a better 3860 pounds. $295.49 ea. This is called a hybrid tire; half-way between an AT and a MT tire. The wheel recommendation is from 8" wide to 11" wide. So, I'm looking at buying two more Eagle Alloy, 16x10, #0589-7088 wheels, 8 on 6.5", 4.5" B.S., 3420 pound load rating. I already have two of these and they are very sturdy. $144.97ea.at Summit. (I have no deal with Summit) So, buy two more and ditch the duplex tires and run the same super single tires and wheels all around. I'm more impressed with the high load rating on the tires than I am on the wheels. It will still be overkill for my 10,400 pound TC. I like overkill.
