Take the guard off and take out the old fiberglass. Get a new piece from a TT repair place and put it in the factory frame, that's what I did years ago and it still looks new. For a different look get a piece of polished Alu diamond plate, I think it's called bright tread at the steel yards, and put it in the factory frame.
