Current truck, over it's life, has been driven multiple times from/to BC and Denver, Co. through all kinds of weather and has been blasted with blowing sand along route (especially through Wyoming), leaving an almost hazy pitting on windscreen. Not really noticeable normally but visible when low sun on window or from oncoming headlights. And to make matters worse, just had it out today and received it's fourth windscreen chip (we have a heck of a lot of gravel trucks in the greater Vancouver area).Am about to take possession of a new truck and wondering if there is some way to mitigate this. Thinking of something similar to the clear film they put on Nascar racing cars, but not as easily removable, but able to remove when needed.Anyone used or know of such a product or other method?Marv

Can’t say I’ve heard of anything of the sort. Sounds like you beat the odds of having a couple cracked windshields over the life of that vehicle, which cures the minor wear n tear issues.

Simply replace it under your Comprehensive policy. I recently had my RAM's replaced at the tune of $1,500 and only cost me $100 deductible. Told them it was pitted from the sand and dangerous when the sun hit it right. No problem and my rates will not change.

had our windshield replaced in 2020 for the sand like pitted and 2nd time for this. Same deal $100.00. chevman

I think there are many that don't understand they have coverage and it will not effect their premiums if they get their windshield replaced under their comprehensive policy.

That was my thought too, but as for that Amazon page you stopped too soon further down the page are reinforcement films

Must admit I never even thought about insurance coverage.
And I will be checking out the provided page link.

As I picked up the new vehicle today and traded in the old, this information will be good for future reference.

It won't help with the rock chips, though those too can be repaired, but you can use the steel wool method of 'reviving' your hazy windshield, there's multiple YouTube videos on the process, it's not difficult.
