winter capable travel trailers, older models

A young relative of my son-in-laws family has asked about a travel trailer he could buy and live in for two years while starting medical school. He has limited funds and has found a park where he can stay for $100.00 a month. He has some money saved and can pay for an older travel trailer but can't afford the $800 a month an apt. would cost.

So, I need some suggestions as to older travel trailers, in the $5000 price range that could handle the winters in the Northern part of Tenn. Did they make some that were better insulated and with enclosed tanks, and maybe better windows? No family, just himself. Thanks

  • Unfortunately the area is high rent cost for apt. With a roommate it would probably be cheaper, but finding a roommate when you are new to the area is tough. At 800 a month rent plus utilities probably looking at $1000 a month. At lot rental of 100 dollars a month that leaves a lot of money for utilities for a travel trailer. Winter would be the most expensive but need to explore trailers.
  • Yea-it's just a bad idea....Those who usually want to do this sort of thing don't know anything about the characteristics of travel trailers and the inability to live in them full time especially in a cold climate, unless you spend alot of money on a trailer. Even then, there are issues.
  • AI sould recommend an Arctic fox, Northwood also, (they make Arctic Fox) and old Boles Aero, and old Airstream also. He asked for suggestions not negative answers. let him decide.

    X2.
Smaller and older TT's are not winter ready and will gobble energy trying to stay warm. They're also going to sweat like crazy inside.
