I respectfully disagree. I have used only air to winterize for the past 20+ years. Even use it to blow out the traps. Never had a freeze problem and it does get rather cold here in Upstate New York.
After you drain the fresh water tank, do you run the water pump dry before you blow the lines? What is your sequence?

I set my compressor to 40PSI and use the city water connection. I open the low points first and run till no water. Next, I open each faucet and both toilets one at a time till no water comes out. Lastly, I disconnect the discharge side of the water pump (quick Connects) and run the pump for a minute to clear it. This is all done with the water heater on bypass and the drain plug out. I leave all faucets partially opened.
I REALLY dislike the smell of the pink stuff and will not even use it in the drains. I use a wet vac to suction the water out of the traps.
