When you get the trailer go to an empty mall parking lot etc. and practice parking. Looking at a monitor is not going to replace knowing what is side to side and overhead. I've watched people look at a monitor backing up going all over the place :R.
Save your money, if you really need a $1000 camera system to help you back a trailer, then you shouldn't be driving it in the first place. Practice properly backing up and you will be able to put that thing anywhere it can fit.
I disagree to some extend, its good to be a good driver in the first place and should develop that skills but backup camera is definitely required because it helps you in saving to get bumped in traffic, moreover, helps in parking.
A person should be confident enough while driving or backing up but still a backup camera adds an advantage to the same. speaking from my personal experience, I have got some good driving skills but still there are circumstances where you need a backup camera, therefore, I got a backup camera installed from
tadi brothers . I also thought to save money instead but the cameras are cheap so wasn't a big deal for me and I am doing just fine with that :)
