Have a Ram shortbed and a WC 840. The rep is not correct, it is Ram that says they don't want a shortbed to carry a TC. Now, my COG sticker sat right on top my rear axle. I lost zero weight off my front axle but that also means I carry ALL my TC weight on my rear. Had to upgrade to 19.5's due to this but I knew it going in. I also pull a trailer in the 4K range and after lower stableloads and bags, truck does a great job. Would I do it again? You bet, love the WC and let be my mega cab. They make the TC in a longbed version if you want to go that route.
But I own what your looking at and have been across the scales. That is real world and feel free to ask more questions.
