Wolf Creek on a F350

I have a 17 F350 SRW with the camper package on order. I am looking at the WC 840 or 850 mainly due to its lighter weight and shorter height. I will be pulling a Polaris Ranger behind it on a 12' trailer

My questions are:

How stable are SRW truck campers in the wind? Across west TX and Colorado the winds can be pretty strong.
How fast do you or can you drive with a TC?
Just pulling the Ranger I will drive 5 over the speed limit which means 80 mph at some spots.
If I drive the entire 700 miles at 60mph it would take about 12 hours. If I drive it at 70 mph it will take 10 hours. That is a big difference.

Thanks

  • I have an F350 with a hard side. The wind can be annoying depending on the angle. Stiff sidewall tires (currently have 19.5" commercial) and Stable-Loads made a huge difference in how much the rig leans and the feel of stability in a cross wind.

The tire rating on my boat trailer keeps me from hammering down otherwise with just the truck camper just go as fast as you can legally.

Have you had a truck camper before?
  • We have a Lance 825 on a F-250 and the wind doesn't seem to matter much. Stableloads make a big difference, as for how fast to drive I don't go over 70 MPH. The wolf creek sits higher on the truck than my lance.
