My spouse and I just got back into a TC after years of everything else with the exception of motor homes. Horse camp and tail ride while he fishes or horse camp alone. Never been a weenie about going alone or taking kids alone when much younger for house shows and rodeos. Have always been pretty self sufficient as he's worked away most of our 46 years. Used to have a great rottweiler, miss her a lot. Better than a gun, she could think and was trained for protection and not aggression. Never worried about safety. Think about it more seriously now and do carry concealed everywhere. Planning going east to Georgia then Florida this fall after putting some venison in freezer. New old camper is 1990-92 Shadow Cruiser 9.5' we bought from our kids in Colorado for cheap. Adding AC and some extra outlets, new larger converter, replaced busted water heater and new gas regulator. TV wiring for satellite and build a shelf for receiver, hang TV. No gray water tank a bummer but blue tote will work. May have to rework shower pan toilet combo as well. Big plus was fridge works all 3 ways, cook stove fine, heater, fresh water tank and pump good, no line leaks. New fantastic fan to replace old 12v exhaust fan and install a battery. Lots stuff to do, some myself and some mobile camper repair guy. Good thing it didn't cost much to buy and had no leaks on the outside. Caulking Windows on list too but that's just regular maintenance. Used it a week while or there and on way home. Son in law great welder and handy, built us custom steps to replace shakey accordion type and installed all tie downs on our 2004 Chevy Duramax 3500 dually. Can't wait to get going. Dogs, all 3, love to go exploring too.
