This is a good topic and could easily cross over into so many different wheeled forums. For many years now, I have noticed an increase in women solo and backpacking with small groups of women. I have been seeing this more now in RV travel and with my other passions, Kayaking and Overland Motorcycling. Over the last few years I have encountered many women traveling solo in TCs. I agree, as earlier posted, that more solo women seem to travel in Class Bs and Cs. I have never met anyone that ever indicated that they wanted to add to their cargo, a guy.
Like with any groups of people, I find an equal amount of wounded males and females, traveling solo. The way and areas I travel, I tend to meet more people that are in their RVs for reasons that are not recreational.
One lady I have met a few times now, up in Wyoming, is really experienced and a fantastic Fly Fishing Fanatic. She showed up with a 2 Slide Lance, a few years back, and this last year, I ran into her again, with her normal greeting; “Hey Traveler!” She has told me for a while now, that it is still infrequent that she meets other women out on the road. Her position is that there is nothing she is uncomfortable doing, or going to, with her Truck Camper. She also told me that she has never had an uncomfortable experience, but her plan is just to pack up and leave, if she does feel uncomfortable.
The biggest group of women traveling solo and camping, I have visited with and met, are motorcyclists. So I am sure this is and will be a growing segment with Truck Campers too.
