Would you buy a truck on ebay?

Hopefully pretty soon Ill be in the market for a newer, heavier duty ford pick up. At one time I wouldnt even consider buying one on ebay, now Im thinking "what the Hell" and I pretty sure I would. Im wondering what every here thinks. Lou
  • You can trust ebay as much as any other used car dealer. Do the same inspections and test drive. I know several people who have bought vehicles this way.
  • I bought a Ford F350 dually using eBay. I got to inspect first and the so the deal was transparent for both of us. Trust but verify.

  • I got a great deal through the internet with CarMax for our SUV. But we just put a hold on it till we test drove it. Ebay I would still want to see it first.
  • From what I have see/heard about problems with e-bay. I would not buy a pack of gum there.

But then again, I'm old and probably cranky.

    Your call.

I look at that the same way I would look at a Mail Order BRIDE...

  • Yes if I could see it and drive it first. Sight unseen? Never.

I know someone who did that. He lives on the west coast and bought an older F150 that was on the east coast. He's not the brightest bulb in the bunch. Paid a bunch of money to have it shipped out, and when it arrived it was full of rust and needed several repairs not listed in the ad. He chalked it up to an expensive lesson. But knowing this guy, I doubt he learned anything.
  • Most auto sales will allow you to inspect them before you finalize a deal. If the buyer won't do that then don't bid.i have sold several vehicles on eBay that way and they all worked out fine.
