- darsben1ExplorerI usually council against extended service warranties But if you are about to go on a fixed income (retire) and you plan to keep keep the truck for more than 6 or 7 years then maybe. Read the fine print carefully. Does the manufacturer have the right to buy your vehicle instead of repair it. Would this be okay with you in 7-8 years. Will you keep up with all the required maintenance in order to keep the warranty?
Shopping online for a Ford factory extended warranty will likely get you a lower price than the dealer is giving you - kerrlakeRooExplorerI can understand the desire to hedge your bet on buying the truck, but then I always remember that the only way you "win" with life insurance is by dying, and somehow, I change my mind.
- BedlamModeratorI feel you are betting "against the house" by buying an extended warranty. If you are really worried about reliability that much, you may want chose a different product. These companies make money knowing there will be less claims than premiums paid. Worried, put the cost of the warranty into an interest bearing account. If you never draw on it, it will help pay down your next truck. If you need to make a repair, this account will take the sting out of the cost.
- RubiranchExplorerOnly on a diesel.
- BB_TXNomadActually an extended service plan (ESP), and I did. There are some 3rd party ESPs, but I think the one direct from Ford is the best. Shop the internet for the best price. There are multiple choices of years and miles.
