I intentionally left out a lot of details just to see what people would have to say.
His truck is a 3500 SRW short bed with air bags. His tires are 17" with not much over 3K carrying capacity.
I said hi nice looking rig and told him we considered a Champagne when we ever looking in 11 but could not find one we likes as there were so popular and no one was selling. They are enjoying life being full time.
I asked what his combined weight was, he said I have no idea. He said I think it was a few hundred over 14K dry. I said I highly suggest he get at least the rear tires weighed because the 17's don't carry near as much as the newer 18 and 20's do and his rear tires may actually be overloaded. He seemed to appreciate my comments as I was NOT being judgmental at all.
Should people say something when it's obvious there is a safety concern? I say yes but in a way that does NOT get the person defensive and actually makes them think about the situation and do something about it.
I know what 80psi loaded should look like and those rear tires were squished a bit more than normal.
I personally know someone with a 38 Champagne they are solid oak inside NOT light weight wood with plastic trim. They towed theirs with a Kodiak.
YES triple axle do have lighter pin but I am thinking he still is over his rear tires capacity.
