The only caveats I'd add to the whole 2500/3500 debate that's a dead carcass at this point would be the following:
- A small number of base 2500 class trucks come with 17" wheels/tires, and that does add a materially lower limit and drops the axle ratings. That said tires and wheels are an easy upgrade.
- I believe the axle on the diesel F350 in the new Super Duty is slightly larger than it is on the gas F350 and gas/diesel F250. I don't know how that axle compares to the 11.5" AAM under the Ram/GM 2500/3500 trucks, though.
For the most part I definitely am with ShinerBock in this discussion, though, and I still find it hard to believe so many people get confused about a really simple topic.
