Gotta jump on here with a cop's perspective.
It is the rare. And I mean rare cop. Even a stater or highway patrol that knows any of these laws or cares one way or the other.
This is not in anywhere in the academy, and I can't remember any training notice or class ever going by that was about highway weights and measures that wasn't exclusively class 8.
Long story short. The odds are getting cited by a cop for any of this are so low as to be negligible.
Carry on.

You would need some 40-80 hours of training IIRC to become a CVEO with the knowledge to enforce and understand the laws etc that I have attempted to explain. My knowledge is pretty minor compared to Wadcutter who spent MANY years, maybe 3-4 decades in a shack on the side of the road enforcing the laws. WE as RV people still need to follow them, even tho not enforced per say. As there are place enforcing some of the parts and pieces, slowly but surly we may need to follow most of the laws and rules for being over 10,000 lbs.

Marty..
I am not arguing or disagreeing with any of your points.
I am just telling you how it is from the enforcement side.
I am sorry if you read anything else into it.
