The "hitch you already have on the vehicle" is just a receiver. It's designed with certain limitations, and may or may not be suitable for the insertion of a weight distributing hitch.
I suggest you look very carefully into the limitations of that setup, as the lowest capacity component dictates what you can do. You can buy expensive equipment all day long, but if the thing you hook it up to isn't rated to do the job, you're wasting your money.
