I totally get that 7 yr old look. I got it from my 7 yr old DD when I told her we were selling the tt. Of course the look improved once she understood it was to get the new 5er. Only problem was the 2 months between trips during prime camping season while we sold the old one and bought the new one. Pick the new 55er up next weekend much to her delight (and ours as well).
The key to remember with your mdx is once you add your family into the mix you take away from capacity of the vehicle. As for if the wdh adds weight, get the Anderson as it us lightweight. Also, wdh tends to move some of the tongue weight back onto the tt as well so it will negate the weight added of the hitch.
The kids weren't coming to pick it up so I didn't have to account for their weight. I'll look into the Anderson. And I'll also call U-Haul which we do have. I've just only ever seen little box trailers, big huge box trailers and then cargo trucks, never just a passenger truck, but doesn't mean they don't have them. I'll check tomorrow. I'd rather rent for bringing it home as well. If we want to test towing with the MDX once we have it home, we can do so for kicks and just see what we think. Would rather do that 5 minutes from home though and not a 6-8 hour drive. ;)
Our problem is our weather here. We really only have 2 summer months for PUP camping. Maybe 4 with a TT but always hard as they are in school those 2 months. About 7 months of the year it's snow and a couple of those are often -40 with wind chills making it colder. So I can't even make up not camping this summer with something later in the year as we've got nowhere to go unless we take off to Jamaica. And I don't want to spend my TT budget on a 2 week Jamaican vacation for 5. LOL
