I hear ya! And even if I had a friend with a truck, I'd never ask to trade vehicles anyway because I wouldn't leave anyone with my MDX. ;) I'm very particular with the state of repair and cleanliness of my vehicles as well as where I park, etc. so I trust no one. LOL
In the case of the family member that will lend me a truck, it's my dad and I'm an only child so it's not an issue for us to use each other's vehicles (okay so him and my husband are the two exceptions to my trust no one rule :)). My dad is usually coming up to camp with us anyway so he may do the driving.
The "towing" is the issue. One simple jerk of the wheel and you are in a ditch with pup. Follow too closely and you are going to rear end the car in front at a stop light. Perform evasive maneuvers with 10,000lb plus combined weights. If you are a newbie, life lessons are to be learned before using one of our vehicles to tow.
