Maybe I'm just naive but grew up on a cattle Ranch in the 50s and was towing trailers with a tractor and half ton pickup before I had a drivers license. In those days we never worried much about how much weight, but it was determined by how much you could get on and have it stay on. I'm sure we put well over a ton of hay on a 1/2 pickup or l or several tons on a hay low load trailer and head down the dirt roads with no trailer brake. Never broke a spring or lost load that I remember, maybe a bale or two. Did get pulled over by the Deputy Sheriff one time but he just wanted to know why I wasn't in school. In those days lots of people pulled TTs with cars without WDH or brakes (no lightweight TT then either)and in Europe they still do. My uncle towed an Airstream with a Cadillac) After Two Class Cs MHs with a V6 GMC Sonoma as a toad we sold the MH but missed camping so we got a 19" TT that we pulled with the Sonoma (added a transcooler, brake controler and wdh) pulled it for two seasons. Scale WT was close to 4K ready to go. Many times people at the campgrounds would tell me I was crazy and well overloaded and just plain unsafe. We went over the Rockies and Back twice without a problem, didn't beat anyone up the long grades but always made it. Been from coast to coast in Cannada and the plains should be fairly easy going, I'd hook that TT up and give it a try and see how it pulls. I think it could be done safely but that's just one old geezers opinion, just need to apply a little common sense. Don't need a diesel dually to pull everything.
