Our trailblazer v8 5.3 liter with 300hp towed our 5000lb narrow body hybrid once home from the dealer. TB had a wdh hitch, brake controller, more than adequate tow rating 6100lbs, and was no brainer. Once on the highway the barndoor behind robbed the small block chevy with 3.42 gearing. We could not exceed 58 mph and could not keep the trans in 4th going downhill a 6 percent grade. Truck had me, and was empty and trailer was empty at 3400lb.
The gear ratio was the problem. I previously towed/owned a 3400lb glamper popup and had no problems.
