I'd tow that thing home in a heartbeat. Being 16lbs overweight on the tounge will not be an issue! There seems to be a belief that you should never max the tow rating of a vehicle. I believe they already built in a margin when they made the ratings. Suggesting that you rent a tow vehicle because you're getting close to your maximum rating seems silly.
If I was that close to the rating limit, and it was just to get it home, I would also do it. But I would also be extremely careful not to stress anything while doing it. I would just take it really slow over railroad tracks, potholes, driveways entries and the like just to minimize the forces on the hitch receiver. And pray I wouldn't have to make any quick defensive maneuvers. Good luck whatever you decide.
