Sounds like a lot of fun. Only suggestion, have contingency funds in the event of mechanical failure. You could plan water parks, and theme parks along the way, zoos, historical landmarks, ghost tours, sporting events, quite a variety of activities along the way.
And yes, you will get tired. Also plan some good "down time" to just sleep in long, and stay up late.
A pop-up camper would work very well for your situation as opposed to a truck camper. You can park the camper and still get around in your truck without having to break camp every time you need to run to the store or visit a site.
Have your tow vehicle checked out well before heading out, get new tires, or plan on having them replaced while en-route. Plan on oil changes for your truck also. A good average for driving (after reading hundreds of posts on RV.net, is about 200 miles a day (4-6 hours of driving). Any more and it gets real tiring, real fast.
Hope your plans work out well for you. Happy planning!
It's like you already know me! :W Good ideas about what we can do along the way. Ghost tours! Awesome. I bet New Orleans has some :) And we love baseball; I wonder how many games along the route we can hit!
Good idea about the contingency funds. Sigh. I should already have thought of that, seeing as we ALWAYS have something to repair in the TT when we go on a 2-3 week vacation.
