I towed my trailer for the first year with a small SUV like your Nissan. It worked but the SUV was not happy with it on anything but flat land.
It's not at all about weight, it's about frontal area. Lightweight frame and drivetrain components to match... Just too much work to pull a full size trailer, even a small one.
