when we drove down Baja California Mexico I carried 2 5 gallon gas cans.
That was with my brand new 1997 Chev vortec 7400 and short bed extracab.
I needed those cans in Mexico.
26 gallons does not take a 454 towing very far , towing .
we did not need extra gas in the USA .
we filled up every time in Mexico we encountered a PeMex.
In the USA we never let the guage get below half .
