If you have a scangauge, then you should be aware that the Ford gauges, do in fact move in increments as things get too hot, and will warn you appropriately as things gets hotter than they are designed to. I had a scangauge, and it pretty much told me the same thing engineering test mode does, and the gauges moved in porportion to that (OEM gauges were accurate enough I sold it). In my research, I also found the F250 gauges are the same. Multiple progressions toward "too hot".
