Freightliner and Western Star are both Daimler subsidiaries based in (and mostly built in) Portland, OR. Mercedes of course is Daimler as well, and I'm starting to see some of the Mercedes models being tested on the Freightliner test routes.

Now that is interesting so they are actually running COE Mercedes? DAF is PACCAR imported, from England where it is assembled. the DAF engine became the new MX PACCAR engine, that was touted as a replacement for Cummins, same Dutch fellow who developed it in Holland, became head of MX in the U.S.
Peterbilt not sold here, but the Kenworth Trucks which are 80% different to equivalent models in North America are. U.S. Argosy production was stopped but new Argosy models built for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa
I suspect VW is looking at what Mercedes is doing and emulate it with Scania/MAN
