Mercedes is not as popular as other brands in heavy haulage. Scania is definitely becoming more popular here and in NZ. MAN slowly getting better, as it has at the moment a 12.9 litre engine, there is a 15.2 650hp engine just been released, MAN engines known for torque deliveryThe fully imported Western Star rates well. Not so well rated and falling to the bottom of is the bulk of Freightliner and to a certain extent CAT
Roger Penske bought the Freightliner and MAN distribution in Australia. Now the parent Companies are Mercedes and VW ,who are fierce competitors globally
Scania 80% owned by VW , distances itself from MAN, as the two companies have never got along historically. Strange bedfellows:)
