Great report, schwipps.
It's always nice to hear first hand reports from someone with real life experience, verses armchair pundits with no actual experience.
What I'd like to see is the OP tow his new TT with his Dad's F-350 and than compare both trucks using same trailer.
My comparison assumes F-350 is a late model truck.
3oaks, exactly what I was trying to accomplish.
As for the F-350, yes I am sure it would handle it better. But I'm making due with what I have
I'm not trying to burst your bubble you seem to like your set up.
However If I were to buy a new 30K+ truck I would want it to perform flawlessly. vs. making do with it. Your original post seemed more positive than making do with it?
In the end an F-250 and a Eco-boost with max payload, max tow are essentially the same money. I don't understand the logic of buying the less capable truck. I get it that it may make a better daily driver but once you decide to get a 35'- 10K GVW trailer you crossed the threshold into Heavy Duty truck land and You daily drive just got a little rougher.
I understand many disagree with my thinking but I don't get the logic of wanting to pull the largest trailer available with a truck that is maxed out.
I do understand if you already own the truck, but to go out and purchase a maxed out truck when a more capable truck is available for the same price doesn't jive with me.
Lastly I think the TW of your trailer may exceed the rating of the hitch rating of the Eco Boost. You should weigh it vs. using a brochure figure.
In the end I would still like to see the comparison between the F-350 and the Eco-Boost. I think it would shed light on both trucks. The Eco boost may perform better than I think vs. the larger truck.
At some point the truck that you choose often comes down to priorities.
Having a totally capable truck for towing is my priority, How the truck performs during the daily drive is less of a concern for me.
Others are sure to disagree and place more priority on the daily drive. But if the smoother daily drive comes at the expense of a less than stellar towing experience I want no parts of it. YMMV.
Don't let my diatribe dampen your spirits the Eco Boost is a very capable truck with a powerful engine however a 10K trailer put it at its limits because the frame suspension and brakes are at their limits
