Payload 1653#
-1145 Hitch weight
-200 lb driver
-130 lb co-pilot
-40 lbs of dogs
-50 lbs of firewood
= 88 lbs left for miscellaneous
*my blue ox WDH barely put me over my payload by my calculations.

How did you figure your hitch weight, and what's your RAWR? Just curious. 1145 seems a little light but maybe you're not loaded up all the way. Glad to hear you like the setup.
Hitch weight from the manufacturer website
SO Hitch weight was from mfg. website.......which only posts a 'dry weight'
And your other weights posted are just guesstimates
You have NOT actually weighed truck and truck/trailer combo 'camp ready'
7830# (shipping weight) with 1145# hitch (dry) is 14.6% tongue weight.
1000# of stuff added to trailer for camping trip (conservative) using 14.6% tongue weight......8830# X 14.6% ===1289#
There went your 'payload'
Go to CAT Scales..weigh truck/trailer combo with and w/o WDH and just truck.........you, wife full fuel, dog, firewood and all that stuff in trailer for regular camping trip...food, clothes, toys, kitchen stuff etc. etc.
Then POST your real numbers.....trucks Ratings also.
YES you have a capable tow vehicle....but most folks actual OVERLOAD their tow vehicles because they have the truck and then get the trailer they THINK will be OK based on some mfg. published website numbers (or the trailer they fall in love with and just have to have).
Then claim it tows really well.
YES I am breaking down the numbers on paper.......you should have done the same prior to purchase. It is just basic math.
Trucks ratings vs trailers ratings. (10300# GVWR X 14.6% = 1503# tongue-----that would tell you not enough truck with 1653# payload)
If truck can not handle trailer at GROSS MAX then trailer too big/truck too small
