Hi Ben, my minivan is a great TV...but I am at capacity loaded up...
I 'know' I'm upgrading the camper eventually...so I have resolved in myself that I must get a 3/4 ton or better for my next vehicle to truly be an upgrade. My next vehicle being a replacement for my Town Car. My former Dually was a terrible family truck.
I really think I'm going for a short bed crew cab diesel in the 05-08 range.
I have tried to work the numbers and come up with a game plan to make a commonly available half ton work and I just can't...900 lbs of family and personal gear...100 lbs of tools (which I can't take now), 100 ish lbs of bikes, plus 1000-1200 lbs of tongue weight puts me way too close on payload. Heck, my weights put me over with my PUP and family on a lot of Ram 1500's now.
