The gearset does not an axle make.
The 2014 and older HD F-150's had 7 lug axles vs. the 6 lug setup on the non HD models.
Ford 8.8 rear axles were put under everything from mustangs, rangers Aerostars and Explorers, but the ranger axle wasn't the same as the explorer axle, As all explorers got 31 spline axle shafts vs the 28 spline shafts found in many 8.8 equipped rangers.
With the 2015 change, it is unclear which axle is under the HD F-150, but it's unlikely it's 'the same' as under the non HD models, though the ring and pinion may in fact be identical.
