When comparing the standard Suburban which is a 1/2 ton chassis against the 3/4 ton suburban there was no comparison. Our 3/4 ton Burb is so much more beefier in every respect a real truck. The 1/2 ton everyday Burb is not. Same with the Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150. Soon you'll understand when going up and down grades, hot days, windy dAys and when the truckers pass you. The tail will wag the dog. Hopefully you have a great warranty for when the tranny disappoints you in the middle of nowhere. Good luck! I waited two years until I could afford the 3/4 ton before I bought a TT as my Tahoe being a 1/2 ton is just to light fir the task.
No offense, but a 2000 1/2 ton the OP's truck is not. Personally, I'd rather tow ANY trailer w/ a 2015 F150 max tow EB, with all the advancements (twice the power, 6 spd, integrated trailer brake, sway control, etc.) than a 2000 3/4 ton gasser 4 spd. From a safety, efficiency, or ease of towing standpoint.
Note: I'm not saying the current F150 is a comparable or better tow vehicle than the current 3/4 ton crop, and frankly, I'm not sure the OP has the right tool for the trailer he wants to tow. I'm just saying, you can't say "aww, it's a 1/2 ton, so ...."
