I personally owned a 2015 F-150 , 3.5L EcoBoost, MaxTow, 6.5' bed. I towed my 35' Toy Hauler at 8600lbs dry with a 1100lb hitch weight (approx). I towed it for 50 miles and I felt the F-150 Ecoboost didn't lack at all in power, but I was all over the **** road, it was for sure the tail wagging the dog.
Sold the 2015 F-150 for a F-250 6.7L PSD. I feel more solid to the ground with much less movement of the truck by the trailer.
Neither truck did I pull up a huge steep hill or down a steep hill. I just have to imagine that the F-250 diesel will handle both of those better with more weight, better brakes, better engine braking, more power.
My family's safety was #1 and so that was the reason for the switch to the F-250. GL to the OP, i just chose personally to switch.
That is a 12k GVWR Toy Hauler. It's not surprising that the F150 was not completely sure footed. I would be curious to know your true tongue weight. You probably come close or are over on your F250 receiver rating, much less your previous F150. An 1100 lb dry tongue weight is probably 1400+ lbs loaded and ready to camp.
Yes, your families safety is #1 and I'm glad you are more confident in your TV since you bought a very big toy. Considering you traded a very very new 2015 for a 2012 SD, that sounds like an expensive mistake. Sorry you had to lose that but glad you are safer.
