Yet another reason to love trailering

I just realized that if and when we ever get to hit the road again, I will have my own private nice clean bathroom, wherever we go. No need to worry about some stranger's germs -- just my own. ;)

Seriously, compare that to airplane travel -- yikes! I would be very worried about using the bathroom on a plane these days.

So for those of us (like me) who suffer with bad MPG, we have to offset that cost by the value of having a clean restroom at all times. Not easy to put a dollar value on that benefit, but it is more than zero, for sure.

  • We love our trailer for being a true home away from home. And we love living in AZ because we can still go camping. Heading to Alamo Lake state park
    soon.
  • We sure do get used to having our own mobile washroom with us. We have done several long trips with the TC and get used to pulling off and using the facilities. We went to visit friends a couple hours away with the SUV shortly after one of the long trips, and it was a pain to look for someplace to stop and use their facilities, which weren't all that clean anyways. We bite the bullet and take the truck and camper more now since bladders seem to shrink with age!:o:S
  • Even in my 1960's days of family travel in a TT with no bathroom, it was still wonderful. We could fix our own meals and the kids slept better in their own familiar beds.

As a solo adult RVing since 1991, i"ll say add a bathroom to the kitchen and the familiar bed and you've got travel paradise!
  • I've always liked to say "I tow my hotel room behind me". There is a lot of value in knowing who has been using the bed and bathroom. I'll stay in hotels when appropriate but I prefer my trailer any day.
  • Adding water, propane and dumping are the only “touch” points IMO. Proper gloves and hand sanitizer is all you need.
  • Totally agree with having my own nest. I think with the exception of a cruise a year and a half ago, which I altered my sleeping habits, it has been years since I slept in a bed that we didn't own. Hopefully going to keep it that way for a long time.
  • Being able to sleep in my own bed, shower, pee and poop, get drinks, cook own food is a major reason I bought motorhome. Not to mention all the nice places you can wake up to.

And for the reasons you state is exactly why I’m really peeved at our state parks department and/or governor for closing them for all activities. I can understand closing them for day use, I can understand and support closing the store, and bath houses. But if you have a fully self contained RV or any kind, the campground should be available. Only accept online reservation and payments to further reduce touch points. But NO, close the whole thing down.
