I'm pretty sure the feds wouldn't kick down your door because you changed your transmission shift points lol. I was thinking more about the people who actually find the code needed to alter those shift points. The threat of legal proceedings was a very real possibility for those. An automaker could easily shutdown a lot of the grassroots efforts and local shops out there.
